Making Installations Safer

Beesley Electrical Services understands the importance of ensuring the safety of households through Routine Operational & Visual Inspections (ROVI). This unintrusive check involves assessing the functionality of safety devices, verifying the adequacy of earthing and bonding, and conducting additional inspections on accessories and equipment within an electrical installation.

In a commitment to enhancing the well-being of our community, Beesley Electrical Services is now offering these crucial ROVI checks for free during evenings and weekends. This initiative aims to make these essential inspections more accessible to homeowners, promoting the improvement of health and safety standards within households.

By providing this service beyond regular business hours, Beesley Electrical Services strives to accommodate the diverse schedules of homeowners, making it convenient for them to prioritize the safety of their living spaces.

Providing a New Service

We’re proud to start offering one of our new services, the ROVI or Routine Operational & Visual Inspection.

Our ROVI has been created with guidance provided by the Electrical Safety Roundtable (source: Routine Visual & Operational Check of the Electrical Installation in Rented and Private Dwellings) and NAPIT to help construct a comprehensive FREE check that can be completed within 1-2 hours depending on the size and complexity of the property.

The goals of the ROVI are to provide a relatively quick, surface level check that isn’t intrusive to an installation, requiring no dismantling.

The value of RCD Testing

At BEELEC our technicians arrive with complete testing equipment including a MFT (Multi-Function Tester) that allows for additional tests to be completed on an electrical installation, such as RCD testing of socket outlets – an additional test that requires zero dismantling and allows us to determine what’s known as the ‘tripping time’ of the RCD equipment.

According to regulation 643.7 of BS7671 and the additional guidance provided in Guidance Note 3, Table 2.17 – the maximum expected tripping time (ms) for a non-delay type RCD (which is what you’ll find typically installed, unless required for alternative reasons) is 300ms.

A longer operating time of an RCD, when compared to the relevant product standard may indicate that the RCD is no longer operating correctly. Identifying this early can allow for preventative maintenance to take place, prior to any equipment faults that could leave the installation hazardous should a fault occur.

Beesley Electrical Services are proud to offer this service, for FREE for the foreseeable future, this is provided in line with our mission statement:

Our goal remains unwavering—to provide high-quality electrical services that enhance the safety and well-being of those who rely on our installations. At BEELEC, we are determined to offer a service that we are proud to put our name on.
